Christ as Truth - 18th Sunday After Trinity
This intent; Christ as truth, opens up a whole box of crazy stuff.
Here are some quotes from Matthew we must wrap our minds around:
"I am the way the truth and the life; no man comes unto the Father but by me... He who has seen me has seen the Father"
These challenge us because we must be consistent across all the teachings: we cannot afford to rush headlong into a belief which is unfounded or contradicts the whole teaching of Jesus. We must go carefully and that is what I attempt to do today, my rant on lies not withstanding.
Some questions we address:
What is truth?
How can we be stable: not tossed about on the wind?
How to be untroubled?
What does it mean: "being like children"?
How can we distinguish lies from truth?
How do we know that lies are lies?
What is the alternative to the lies?
How does "rejoicing in weakness" help us?
Two warnings: this intent has a lot of content so it is a bit of a long one (mostly because of my rant in the middle) and secondly you don't want to be driving or using heavy equipment for the last 15 minutes of this one.
Texts:
Ephesians 4
John 14
Thomas
2 Corinthians 12
Matthew 25
