15th Sunday After Trinity - The Reality of Things Eternal: Devotion to Holy Spirit
In a way this episode is really about the achievement of equanimity and of unperturbability - even though it may not seem like it because of all this talk about "things eternal."
What has the Parable of the Good Samaritan to do with Eternity?
And what does the Holy Spirit have to do with either?
Why use a Priest and a Levite for this parable and who were the Samaritans of the 1st Century?
On the other hand, how is one supposed to understand and deal with the losses life deals us? And what, if anything, has this to do with the eternal things?
What does Paul mean by "all things are for your sakes"? Or even better, what does he mean by "our light affliction, which is for but a moment, is producing an over-abundant weight of eternal glory"?
What could this eternal glory be?
Not every question will be answered, but not every question needs to be.
