12th Sunday after Trinity - Self-dedication

This talk on "self-dedication" was taken from the re-dedication ceremony today of my little church which was first consecrated in September 1926. 

What do we mean by self-dedication?

So much of our experience of dedication is disappointing.  How can we understand dedication in a new more powerful way, that leaves us in the presence of what we need to be durably dedicated to our spiritual ideals?
